Eat more, weigh less!

Eat more, weigh less!
By Lori Anderson-Craze

If you are someone who is struggling to lose weight, the last thing you might think to do is eat more. In my experience, my clients who are overweight or even the ones trying to lose a few pounds simply do not eat enough! They are so afraid of gaining more weight that they starve themselves instead. But what they don't realize is by doing this they're setting their bodies up to be "fat storing machines"!! So now when they do eat, even if it's something healthy, their body holds onto the food and stores it as fat. This is the body’s survival mechanism.

The simplest way to explain metabolism is the "fire" analogy. A fire needs wood or some other type of fuel to burn. If you do not "feed" the fire, it will simply die down and ultimately stop burning. Our metabolisms work the same way. We all know those people that seem to be able to eat anything and not gain weight. That is because they have high metabolisms and they get that way by eating! And I'm obviously not talking about eating junk...that's a whole different article!

You should strive to eat 4-5 times a day instead of the three meals that were once recommended. That doesn’t mean 4-5 big meals; it means a few healthy snacks in between to keep the metabolism going until your next "meal". You should also make sure you're eating carbs, protein and fat (yes, I said fat) at every meal/snack!

So unless there is a medical condition preventing you from losing weight, you will see results by eating this way. Of course exercise is equally important too! Because remember, we need muscle to burn fat and we need to eat to build muscle!
